BTW boychat is back, appears to still be hosted in the USA with steadfast networks.
Seems to me that this battle is not won.
I'm seeing that it's hosted by spray.net, same as freespirits. A visual traceroute links it to sweden and spray.net.
I'm still getting a trace to nozone from my cali server, but on http://visualroute.visualware.com/, it shows it going to sweden.
If you got the info I sent from traceroute and dnsstuff.com you can see that it is indeed still at steadfast in the windy city.
They moved on of the name servers but the A record still points to steadfast.
If you had not already chosen not to post my traceroute on the blog I ask that you do not. I can hop on BC from any one of about 80 networks but it is always best if the armatures over there cannot associate any of them with anything else.
My suggestion to everyone is to contact Steadfast POLITELY and ask why they believe boychat.org is NOT in violation of the published acceptable use policies.

That is the same IP the A record has resolved to for a couple of weeks and it is in Chicago at Steadfast.
The only explination I would have for what you are seeing and what I am seeing would only make sense if the site was not resolving for me. I can see slowness in propogation of DNS information but then I should not be able to hit the site at all.

I can tell you what is up with people like this.
They are inflicted with a belief in magical thinking. People like this Dave think that people should not judge others they think everyone is equal in that regard and they are prepared to give moral equivalency to things in order to allow them NOT to judge.
If Dave thinks Pedophilia is wrong he has a choice to make. If he doesn't go so far as to think it is wrong but just disagrees with the point of view he can allow the person to speak out of a misguided understanding of free speech.
On privately owned networks there is no reasonable expectation of free speech however so Dave is not obligated to allow just anyone to express any point of view. Companies are not bound or obligated to provide fully open forums for anyone. There is no obligation to allow people to express points of view of any kind.
If he doesn’t have to judge things he doesn't have to make choices about who to extend services to. You have to wonder if you wanted to do a white supremacist podcast if he would give that similar leeway.
The thing I can’t understand about people who think this is a free speech issue is what they believe the core of the so-called BL movement is? If these are just people who care about boys and want to help boys why aren’t they just getting involved in Boy Scouts or Big Brothers Big Sisters or any of a number of organizations that help boys like thousands of other men do?
Truthfully most men care about and want to help boys, whether it is their own sons or by supporting groups that help kids. But the thing is 99% of men who care about boys don’t think they need a term for what they are, don’t think they need to organize and speak out politically, don’t think they need to get the message out about who they are, and don’t think having sex with a boy is love.
When you get right down to it, if these guys do not want legitimacy for their sexual desires, if they do not want to get people to think this it is just a sexuality like homosexuality, if they don’t want to try and convince people that they should be allowed to have sex with kids what in the hell do they need boychat for, what do they need blogs for, what do they need podcasts for? If it is not just about sex then there is no reason for them to be called BLs and no reason to whine about free speech since no on is stopping men for being involved with boys on a purely mentoring basis.
Since no one is under any obligation to allow these people places to communicate and organize then if a company chooses to do so what are they actually doing? They think they are choosing not to judge but they are making a judgment and they are willfully allowing activism based on adult child sexual relations to take place via their network resources.
The magical thinking is that free speech is always good even if it is coming from folks we disagree with. The fact they are expressing their views is somehow good even if 99% of societies believe what they are expressing is wrong. The fact they are expressing it is somehow good anyway.
Folks like Dave almost always draw the line somewhere it is always interesting where that is.
